Blog 139: Convenience Products Health Club Marketing

Convenience products are the health club products that appeal to a large market segment, purchases are frequent, the pricing is relatively low and the health club product is widely distributed.

Convenience health club products are great products to use as incentives to get prospective members in the door. When I think of convenience products, I think of products that we can use as hooks to provide the awareness in our community about our health club.

Think of some of the health club products that are distributed throughout the health club industry on a wide range. Things like gym bags, towels, protein bars, health club merchandise, etc., are all great health club products that can be used in your health club marketing efforts as hooks to draw in prospective members.

In a previous blog, I talked about marketing free giveaways to your prospective members as incentives to get valuable data or to grow the health club membership. Free as far as information, education, etc., and using that to get prospective members into the door.

Another great tool to use to get people in the door is to sell things at cost or just above cost and make the profit margins very small so the health club products are extremely attractive. These health club products are referred to as convenience health club products.

I love running in-house promotions where I give away a free gym bag, free protein bars or anything to my existing members that will make them excited for either taking a survey or for referring a member. There is always a great way to use convenience health club products in your health club to grow your health club. Start trying to think of your true profit margins and which health club products and/or health club services yield the greatest ROI and then think of how you can use your convenience health club products to take the prospective member to that next step of spending their money in those profit centers yielding higher profit margins.
