Time management as defined by Wikipedia.org is the act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency, or productivity.
One of the most common excuses that I hear when it comes to health club marketers to justify their procrastination is they say they don’t have the time. Time management is the most elementary art that you must master in life and in business.
Keep in mind time has no replacement. Time is a commodity and if you value your time you must learn how to manage it. You must get in the habit of making a list of everything that needs to be done on the following day and allocate a specific time to invest on each task. Prioritize the things that are most important and have the most urgency or have a due date. Put all priorities at the top of that list and you must schedule a time every morning when you wake up to review your daily schedule.
Time management is much simpler than most people could imagine. The challenge for most people is being accountable for their time. A lot of people want to do things by the seat of their pants and they don’t want to be in a committed time frame. Everyone has 168 hours in a week and if you learn to effectively manage your time you will be able to achieve all of your goals.
Time management is a necessity for your entire life; it’s not just for business. You should schedule your time for every part of your life; for your pleasure, for your leisure, for your family, for your wife, for your kids, etc. If you do this, you will guarantee yourself quality time with all of the people that are important to you.
Most people, when it comes to scheduling time for their family and friends think it is absurd, but I, on the other hand, think it is an absolute necessity. I have four children and each one them need quality time spent with their father. If I am able to schedule that into my day just as I would a business related appointment whether it is to pick them up at one of their events, to take one (or all) of them to lunch, take them to dinner, have breakfast with them, play basketball with them or whatever it is, if I schedule it in my day then that child, at that time, has my undivided attention for the entire time allotted.
I schedule everything into my day and I am absolutely sure that I am going to accomplish whatever my objective is at that time. The same thing applies to everything pertaining on my business schedule.
